Following the victory of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Edo Gubernatorial election Godwin Obaseki, the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo has said that the victory in Edo state is a morale booster for the party as it plans and prepare to move to Ondo to replicate the winning streak.
Jalo stated that whoever may not be satisfied with the process can proceed to the election tribunal which is the adjudicating body for election cases to seek redress as this is natural in a democratic setting.
The party stalwart spoke to journalists at the national secretariat in Abuja after the announcement of the victory of the party in the just concluded elections in Edo state even as he stated that issues arising from the Ondo primaries conducted by the party is expected in an evolving democracy as Nigeria’s.
According to him “This is a victory for Nigeria and Nigerians and for our democracy because if you look at from the beginning of it, the process was free and fair and it was not characterized in rancor. It is clear that APC has come to stay in the country and Nigerians trust the party and President Muhammadu Buhari.
“it is normal in a democratic setting that whenever an election is held and results are announced, most political parties do not agree with it. But this is why we have tribunals so that anyone who has grievances can go there and seek redress.
On the crisis bedeviling the party occasioned by the Ondo primaries conducted by the party, Jalo said “you know that Nigeria’s democracy is just evolving and we can as well expect some of these things. It is when people are keeping quiet that one can say that all is not well. But when people are speaking out and saying their minds that we can say yes, we are making progress. So, what is happening with the issue of Ondo is what we should expect and be happy about”.
